The first collection of my residency from Pottery Northwest.
 

The Blue and White collection is referencing the Japanese colour pallet of luxury, and playing with the themes of belonging / diffrence, sets, and family.  I'm also working with the parameters of control and freedom - trying to offer a direction for the slip to travel, without altering it's natural course.

This is my porcelain slip concoction, either used pure - or with my blend of blue mason stains added to it.  The pieces are glazed on the inside, and just over the lip, making for a smooth drinking experience.  There is more for your hand on the outside, as the cup has been sanded at every stage to ensure it is silky to the touch.  Lastly, inside every cup and jug is a starburst dusting of blue dissolved into the lining.
